*DISCLAIMER* I'm looking at it with all brand loyalty aside.

It looks like ass. Seriously, it's terrible. The proportions are bad, the cues are wrong, and instead of being original, it looks like a morbidly obese ghibli. I predict a sales disaster if it goes into production, and can see Lincoln going the way of Mercury soon. You tried your hardest and fell flat on your face, ford......UNLESS- they are shooting for the 300. I could see that competing well with the 300. If Lincoln realizes their place, and moves downmarket to compete with buick and chrysler, I can see them thriving. But it's all in the pricing. We'll see.

Ghibli competitor as concept

300 competitor as production car

Lincoln has an aspirational sales model.

Like, exactly like a Jaguar.

Yeah, right.

I kind of agree with you though.

This. I don't think it looks particularly good, but what bothers me most is it doesn't look like a Lincoln. It's just a car that's trying to be something but I can't tell what

I want to think it's a 300-fighter of sorts and not aiming to compete with any of the higher-end cars. If anything, they "could" compete with Audi, but I doubt that? Their major competitors should be Buick and Chrysler, that I agree with.

My major gripe with the car is all the "Lincoln Lights". It's a concept, but it'll be overkill if it were to be on the final product.

I see four British manufacturers mixed together.

Size of a Rolls

Shape of a Bentley

Jag front end

Colour of an Aston

All in all, I think it is alright though that other Lincoln concept which was dark, low and long is much better in my books.

My only complaint is that the grille has no defining style, everything else is fine.

I genuinely am though. Did I mention cadillac before now? No. I wasn't all "LOL CADDY CT6 BETTER CONTINENTAL SUX COCK N BALLS" I looked at it from a neutral standpoint, formed an opinion on it based on itself only, and came to a conclusion.

Glad I'm not alone. The back is tolerable, but that face is f****** dreadful.

It would pull of a decent luxury car on GTA 5.

if they compete with the 300 and lacrosse, they'll sell these hand over fist. They shoot higher? Mercury'd.

I'd put money on it actually being a stretched Taurus with a bit more luxury come production time. A XTS/CT6 competitor, sitting below the established S-class/7-series/A8 group.

But I completely agree on its unoriginality, its just nice, relative for a Lincoln.

Agreed. Ford has been going for the European makes for a while now, and they've been successful to an extent. FORD, not Lincoln. The Mustang 2.3 has gotten some Audi buyers, the GT has taken some M3 shoppers. The ST bros have been widely successful. Lincoln, they haven't done much but I have some amount of hope, but not enough for me to believe they can up sell a car like this. If they expect to sell this car to anything higher than the other Domestics, Mercury will be laughing in asses of in their grave; Cadillac has a much better chance of selling globally than Lincoln ever will IMO.

truth is it kinda about time someone built another luxo barge. not lap times. no growling exhuasts, just big, comfy luxo barge cruising. Lexus is already doing there thing, the germans are....well the germans, and caddi is now (more or less) german-light.

The fact that it doesn't look like a Lincoln is what's BEST about it.

Lincoln hasn't produced a good looking car in decades. They need a new design style and they've been flailing, badly, with their most recent "mustachioed" attempt. This has the hallmarks of only being fucking purty, but also being easily adapted across the entire range.

Yes, it looks like a Jaguar. Is that a bad thing? Are Jaguars ugly? No, no they aren't. Just as the 300 looking like a Bentley wasn't a bad thing, and the Fusion looking like an Aston Martin isn't a bad thing, the new Continental looking like a car known for being pretty isn't a bad thing either.

It looks like a Jag fucked a Lincoln that fucked a bunch of ugly cars.

So in other words, the Lincoln was the hooker and the Jag was a middle aged businessman on a business convention in Chicago and he met this hooker called Lincoln, and she didn't have birth control, nor did he have a condom and a bunch of freaky shit went down and this was their child and for some reason they had decided that they were going to embrace it for some reason.

Their child has also been dropped on the head as a baby multiple times and that is the reason why it's face looks like that.

Kinja'd!!!

Lincoln, go restrained and classy. Shoot for presence and class, not an over styled game of catch-up. It's beneath your heritage.

Kinja'd!!!0

First off you are wrong.

Next at least it is a styling departure from the rest of the Lincoln lineup. The new blurry shots we have seen of the CT6 look almost the same as the CTS. Cadillac needs to take more risks like Lincoln is doing with the Continental.

Sedans are sedate and losing relevance anyway.

The only calling card for continued sales that sedans have, are that people have always had them, and it is habit to get a new one.

It isn't as innovative and versatile as the 5-door Audi A7, as sedans go... and it isn't as practical as a CUV... and isn't as gorgeous as a coupe or convertible would be.

Taking risks by making it look like every other luxury car in the world blended into one big blob? No. Also, Cadillac has always taken a firm stance on looking like a Cadillac, and they've never been mistaken for other cars. They've stuck with it for better or worse, and as a result, they've had much more brand recognition and overall success.

lincoln people. We gave em the first half of the '60s and second half of the '80s and now they go thinking they've always been better. If you think the continental concept looks like anything other than derivative crap, you're so far up your own ass the methane has made you delusional.

Kinja'd!!! JR1 > Your boy, BJR
03/30/2015 at 12:14

Yet it looks so much like every other Cadillac a normal pedestrian cannot sport the difference. Tell me if you owned a 80,000 dollar Cadillac would you really want it to look almost exactly like a 30,000 dollar ATS? Yes they have brand recognition they have done that job beautifully but they certainly do not have model recognition with their car lineup.

The new Continental defiantly does have a taste of continental styling. A slice of Germany, the drama of Italy, and the luxury of England all wrapped together to make a uniquely American experience. Just take a look at the grill and tell me that doesn't look phenomenal in the dark. And all the chrome around the bottom of the car is a stroke of genius.

the grille does look phenomenal in the dark.....because I can't see it. The car looks like something out of Saints Row, and not in a good way. I'd rather be recognized as a Cadillac than "a......something".

I have never played Saints Row I am not so sure I get that reference.

And it looks great in the daylight too but those lights are the cars signature feature. The little Lincoln emblems are wonderful.

Nope. In fact I have some criticisms of this car and I hate certain Lincolns such as the MKT. Nevertheless the new Continental is a good design and will usher in a new era for the brand.
